Fairy Fantasy Art Coloring Book

When you are an artist and you have a little girl, and you've been known to draw a fairy or two, eventually it is inevitable that you will be asked by the little girl, to make her a coloring book.

My coloring book was slowly created over the course of a few years. I simply scanned and kept the line art for a variety of pieces, and would print them out for my daughter on demand.

Now I'm sharing these collected works with you. You can buy the book! It's a digital download. Instant gratification!

Buy it for the kid in your life, or for yourself! I know lots of grown ups who like coloring (me included).

You can print the book out as often as you like. Just please don't share it with friends.

At just $6.00 its affordable to all! click the image to buy the book

A Sketch a Day? We'll See

I've never been a terribly prolific artist. I don't crank out a big body of new work in any given year. I'm pretty comfortable with that - as I think there are pros and cons to prolific vs. non prolific - so for the most part I don't sweat it.

That said I have this exhibit coming up and I kind of need to have some ART for it. And while I am comfortable on the whole with my process I would like to become just a tad more prolific. I'll never be the type to offer up to the masses a new painting every two days. My process just doesn't allow for that. I'm not knocking anyone! I am in awe of those of you who have that ability - it just ain't me. But, that said, practice makes perfect.

Drawing or sketching daily regularly may not make me better but it does keep my head and my hands in the space they need to be.

I think back to times in my life where I have for whatever reason been actively DRAWING DAILY and it was a tremendous boon to my overall creative spirit. It just got the juices flowing and the head in the right space for overall creative energy. That is something that I really need right now. With the responsibilities of daily adult life constantly struggling for my attention its hard to be in the right creative mood when I am "supposed" to be.

So for a while now I've been trying to just draw or sketch for a certain amount of time every day. I don't have a perfect score. Not by a long shot. But it still has been great.

I've made sure to go ahead with this exercise even when I have plans to work on a larger piece of art that same day. Sometimes I just sketch for 5 minutes sometimes an hour. This does wonders to get me into the creative mood and I've felt more connected to my work overall when I've allowed myself this warm up time for sketching. Most of the pieces I have been doing have been small ATC/ACEO* sized images in either graphite or silverpoint.

The other day I did a larger one.

It's available as a print (directly from me so yes it is signed!)

Many of the larger drawings will end up in the show in November. Most of the smaller ones I plan to give away. ;)

*what is an ATC or ACEO? It stands for Artist Trading Card or Artist Card Edition or Original - they are 2.5x3.5 inches in size. More info here.

New Perfume Lockets and a Customizable Print

Well after a year of development I can finally share with you a new product I am very proud of. Secret Scents are jewelry, art and fragrance in one piece of wearable goodness. :) These beautiful lockets feature art prints on the outside and inside hold a very fragrant secret - solid perfume! This product was an original idea about a year ago - and I was so excited when I thought of it - but I wanted to be sure they were done right. The locket needed to be big enough to showcase the art but not cumbersome - the perfume had to be stable in it's solid form and of course smell wonderful and the whole thing had to be high quality but not overly expensive. After working with one of my licensing companies we finally hit upon the right combination of quality materials - most of which are made in the USA - that would give us the beautiful product we wanted but without breaking our customer's wallets. The result is a really stunning piece of jewelry at what I think is an unbelievable price point! On my website you will see our first four lockets featuring some of my post popular images. But what we haven't told you yet is that we have more artists waiting in the wings. We'll be releasing several more artists over the next few months - each with their own set of four Secret Scents lockets all with unique fragrances and stunning artwork. I can't wait!

On to our next product! Flower Fairy is a customizable Victorian inspired fairy art print. She's perfect as a gift for a fairy lover or to decorate a little girl's room. Enjoy!

Phunky Phairies™ Figurines

A few years ago I painted a series of 8 manga inspired images I named Phunky Phairies™. They were partly inspired by my love for Manga and partly inspired by my daughter and neice. The first four images were turned into avatars, made by me for the online virtual world called Second Life. They've also just recently been turned into 3D figurines by Munro Collectibles. I find the history of these little imps pretty amusing. See their various incarnations below. You can buy them HERE.
